Northumbria CU Events week

Today marks the first day of Northumbria’s events week. The theme for the week  is ‘#nofilter’.

Joe writes:

‘David and I are joining a keen bunch of 25 or so students up in Newcastle to uncover Jesus with their mates and others on campus! As seen in the poster (see below), the CU have worked hard to put together two talk streams- the first being 2 life stories paired with a reflection on an objection to the Christian faith, and the second being a series of 3 events imagining conversations between Jesus and a few modern high-profile celebrity figures.

We’re excited by the invention of the week’s event themes, and the enthusiasm of a few key students to play their part and see God move (7 came to the prayer meeting this morning; this would usually attract 2 or 3). We’re also aware this is largely uncharted territory both for the CU and us- this week is the CU’s most ambitious, packed week of events they’ve put on for a little while, and the topics David and I are approaching require us to enter the world of megastars like Rihanna and figures like Trump, along with handling sensitive themes such as the prickly area of Mental Health as we bring the gospel.

Please pray for us and the students in light of what’s shared above, and pray for David today as he shares on topic of ‘Many Faiths, many truths: How can Jesus be the only way?’ and introduces a lady who is coming to join us for the day. She will be share her story of converting from Hinduism to Christianity!
